Purchasing Fabric Online

My feet and back hurt so I think it is time to sit down!

Two loads of laundry.  Cleaned the floors.  Quilted most of my Log Cabin Quilt.  Bet you are ready to see some pictures of that!  Almost have my Civil War Love Letters quilt pieced (yes, I have been busy on that one)!  Cut out a quilt so it is now ready to piece.  Made a trip to Madison to Lowes for some necessary items (which included a new iron).  Picked up lunch at Rally's so I did sit down long enough to eat.  And finally fixed dinner and got the dishes in the dishwasher.  I go back to work tomorrow to get some needed rest!  lol

I have to take a 1/2 hour lunch tomorrow so I think it would be a good time to call my friend Joanne.  Hope you are reading this Joanne!  lol

Now to the title of this post!  I purchase a lot of fabric.  I purchase a lot of fabric online.  I purchase fabric from stores that have great customer service.  I purchase fabric online and expect to receive it quickly.  So a couple of weeks ago I purchased some fabric I desparately wanted online.  I won't mention the name of the store (you know it must have been bad or I would have mentioned the name).  After waiting 2 weeks, I emailed them asking about my order and if I needed to take my business elsewhere.  What I had ordered was 4 pieces of fabric (each 2 yards), and 3 pieces of fabric (each 3 yards) from their clearance page.  After my email I received a call the next day from them.  I was expecting an apology for it taking so long.  That is not what I got!  The girl told me they hadn't cut my order yet because they were waiting to see if one of their customers wanted that fabric.  WHAT!!!  I purchased this fabric!  What am I?  Chopped Liver!  Why are they waiting to see if someone else wants it!
I didn't get the clearance fabric I ordered!  The rest of the order came 2 days later.  I WON'T be ordering from this store again.  They definitely lost a customer!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Rhonda

I'd love if you could tell me in a reply to this comment which online store it was. I am always reluctant to order online....and I'd hate to stumble upon them accidentally. That is a HORRIBLE attitude they had when you called them. I'd not deal with them again, either!

That's awful. You should really name them. You might save another quilter from this sort of thing.

I too would love to know who gave you such horrible customer service. I'd like to make sure that I don't order from them. Nothing worse than counting on getting some fabric and then not getting it. I used to order from Fabric Depot when they had their weekend online sales, but time after time, they ran out of fabric I ordered online and by the time they called me midweek to see if I wanted to substitute anything else, whatever else i might have wanted was also sold out. Grr.

Wow! That is awful - and so very, very rude! I definitely think you should name and shame them, Rhonda. I buy a lot of fabric on-line, too, and sure don't want to buy from them!

XOXO,

Cyndi

was it The Quilt Shoppe? I heard a bad review about them recently too! I only shop Fat Quarter Shop online, so far they have been wonderful!

omg, I am shocked! I would not be in the least bit interested in ordering from that shop either and think you might think about naming them too. I would hate to have the same problem. I buy alot of fabrics online and LOVE designer fabric scrap bags. I have been burned a few times on them...the BOYS SCRAP bag with pinks and purples, ahhh, no. Other then that, I have good things to say about buying online. I'm still seething about this one! Good luck on your decision, Elaine

Oh, did I mention...I sell fabric online and would never dream of doing that! I have had customers give me vague descriptions of what they wanted and they wrote back saying that is not what they want. I tell them to keep the fabric and then send them what they really want. That way they can always use the wrong choice as a quilty gift to someone else. I am sure sorry you were treated like that...I am so appalled!

Bummer.....

I am sorry this happened to you.

I am actually waiting for two orders from two different places it has been a month.....but that is normal for this island but...I still need to find out where it is, cos in time, I will forget about it. sorry for your bad experience.

I agree that you should name them. That is a terrible way to treat a paying customer. If it isn't for sale right now, it shouldn't be on the "for sale" page.

I too would like to know the name of the company. We had a bad experience with Desperate Quilters earlier this year and I will never order from them again.

I also order almost all my fabric online. So far I have only had good experiences. It would be a help to know which ones to avoid. Please reconsider.

I haven't had problems with orders being delivered when ordered online but I was disappointed by quality from one place...I don't order much on line but when I do I really want the fabric....the way they treated you was unacceptable..please name

I'm with the others. I'd like to know who it was, so that I too could avoid them. I'm sorry you were treated so poorly. Very few know what proper customer service is these days. or even plain ole common courtesy!

What happened to you is incredible. You definitely should have been given the sale, but they made a bad judgment. I order online often, and was going to blog about the good luck I've had. Then I had one bad experience and won't shop at that online store again. I'm sticking to the stores that treat me like they want my money. I, too, would be interested in the store's name, just so I won't shop there.

Oh my, that is absolutely incredible that they would do that. Unbelievable! I, too, would not shop with them again.

WoW! That is truly amazing and horrible customer service. They obviously don't care about the online orders so I most definitely think you should tell us the name of the store. It would help the rest of us avoid what you went through.

I waited for almost a month for an order I placed online. Now I wonder if that's what took so long. You should name them, you may save some of us from having that experience.
