By now I am sure everyone is getting ready for their Thanksgiving holiday meal. I am no exception. I have a couple of things to make for the family dinner tomorrow. I am lucky that I don’t have to clean house because we are all going to my wonderful Mother In Laws for dinner. So here is hoping you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!
The title of this post is not about Thanksgiving though. It is about a Civil War Love Letters quilt that I started probably 3 years ago. It has been a UFO for quite some time. But not anymore! I started this quilt with the intentions of doing all 121 (6 1/2”) blocks from the Civil War Love Letters book. If you haven’t heard of the book, check it out on Amazon or your local quilt shop may have it. After 3 years in the UFO pile, I just couldn’t bring myself to do ALL those blocks. I had around 40 already completed when I started working on the project again recently. At 50 blocks, I decided this quilt needed to be done! So using just 49 of the finished blocks, I completed this 75” x 75” quilt. Lets just say that sashing can be a UFO’s best friend! lol
I used an 80/20 batting, Isafil thread and a meander design from Quilters Niche.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday! And be sure to stay safe on the highways while traveling!
