Is it worth putting binding on? And giveaway!

I quilted a top over the weekend and have to say that I think that is one ugly quilt!  I am considering not even putting a binding on it.  I wonder if a nice dog would like it to sleep with.  Maybe it would make a good chew toy for some nice doggie!

istock_photo_of_dog_chewing_womans_shoes

Just think if this adorable dog had that quilt to chew on instead of those shoes.  Don’t you think he would have had more fun, after all, shoes do correspond with foot odor!

dog-separation-anxiety

Maybe that quilt would have saved that chair!

Anyway, I thought I would let my readers vote!  Is this quilt worth binding?  You be the judge!

Quilts-1

I will do what ever my readers choose for me to do!

To place your vote, just look to the right side of my blog and place your vote in the poll.  Then leave a comment telling me you voted.  Why do you ask?  Because that will get you in the drawing to win a prize.  What is the prize you ask?

This is the prize!  I was looking for something in my sewing room today and found this tablerunner I made.  So why not give it to someone to use because I won’t.  You really need to live with neat people to use tablerunners and placemats and I don’t see this family changing anytime soon.  LOL  And before I forget, anyone can enter but please only enter once!

Quilts-3

Hope you are having a great day!

Rhonda

I voted. I like the quilt. Maybe you should add it to the adorable table runner in the giveaway. ;) But it's definitely too good to go to the dogs.

Every quilt is worth binding. I've learned that even I don't like something I've made, there's always someone out there that does.

P.S. Love the cute runner!

I voted Yes! Just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone else won't like it! What don't you like about it? I love the table runner.

Jan said...

You're the "boss", here; but I voted yes. It looks like a lovely quilt. If you don't want to keep or gift it, I'm sure some charity would love it.

Unknown said...

Yes you should put a binding on the quilt. It is really pretty and someone will love it.

Leah said...

I voted Yes also. If you think it is too ugly, you can do a quick machine binding and then give it away even if it is to a dog. But I am sure there is someone out there may love it.

Hey Rhonda! I voted...and I voted YES! I like it...but if you don't, it would still be a great quilt to use for picnics, to take to the beach, keep in your car "just in case", etc. That way if something happened to it, you wouldn't mind so much!

Love that table runner!

XOXO,

Cyndi

Every quilt is worth a binding. If you don't like the quilt give it to a needy person. I like your table runner and would be more than happy to use it. Thanks for the chance to win.

I put my vote in and I am in agreement with everyone (7 of us so far) who think that this quilt is definitely worth it!!

Nice quilt! Of course, bind it! And I LOVE the table runner. Some of my favorite colors. :)

I voted as well. It is very rare to find a truely ugly quilt. This one does not rate that low. If you don't like it, use it backing side up, or use it for a picnic or bleacher quilt. Someone will love it and use it.

Freda said...

I voted yes too cause I like the quilt...and the tablerunner too.

Janet said...

I agree "YES". You may not love it, but someone would. A car quilt or picnic quilt doesn't have to be "beautiful" and probably gets used more if it's not "too nice" to use. Love the table runner. :)

Tudy said...

I voted and would love to win the table runner.

Sheila said...

I voted yes , this quilt would make someone very happy so if you don't want to keep it find a good home for it ,maybe a women's shelter or something like that .

Moosters said...

So far, it looks like 100% of us voted yes - bind it! Someone will love it. Or, as someone else mentioned, it will make a great car quilt. Never let a perfectly good quilt go to waste!

Maybe it's the colors you don't care for. I think it is quite pretty. Thank you for letting me enter your giveaway for the table runner!

Martina said...

I also voted for a yes! I think it is worth the time. Surely someone would be very happy to recieve it!
The tablerunner is so cute!

I voted but don't know why you wouldn't think that quilt is worth binding!!! YES of course it is!! It is very nice, and I love the colors!

Your dogs on the other hand...sigh~ I'd make sure they don't get to any quilts!

Barb said...

I am laughing at the pictures...so funny. And...no brown nosing here but I went and voted and I vote that you bind this quilt because I have seen and made some ugly quilts and this one is sooooo far from ugly...maybe it is not your taste but it is adorble...truly.

nono said...

I voted and I think you should bind the quilt. It really isn't ugly, there is NO such thing as an ugly quilt! They are all beautiful.
The pictures were funny. My dog once chewed a couch and chair.

Lee said...

I think the quilt is lovely. I would bind it - and I voted!
thanks!

Jocelyn said...

I voted, and it looks like the majority voted to bind it!! Majority rules :-)

Anonymous said...

Yes bind it. If you don't have a home for it, I am sure that some family leaving a shelter with nothing would love this quilt to help them make a new home. The table runner would also be welcome and appreciated by them.

Winona said...

Hey Rhonda, I voted yes. I see nothing wrong with this quilt. Maybe you can use it as a donation if you still dislike it after adding the binding. The little table runner is really cute.

Irina said...

I think you should bind it, it is nice! I like the effect it gives with its values. What is it that you don't like about it? I could even bind it for ya!

Jen said...

What's wrong with the quilt! I think it's darling! Definetly not a dog quilt, and I'm happy that 30 other people agree with me! (I voted!). Love the table runner too. :)

quiltingnana said...

bind it....it looks fine. But if after living with it for a while you still don't like it, a women's shelter or homeless shelter would....

SubeeSews said...

I will bind it for you! Beautiful!
Subee in Indiana too!

And i thought my furry guys were bad, lol.
And what is so ugly? I think it is beautiful and if you don't like it for yourself, it would make a beautiful charity quilt.

Oh dear, maybe you should have stopped sooner, but since you went this far, bind it. I do love the table runner. I hope I win! Joline

Bind it and donate it to a shelter or some other charitable organization - you will feel that all your hard work has been validated.

I voted! Love the doggie pictures, too. :) If all else fails, use the quilt as a charity quilt.

Bind it; and if you still don't like it, donate it as a charity quilt. Someone will love it.

Jolee said...

I absolutely think bind it! And I don't think it's ugly at all (hope you don't think I have bad taste now ;-) ). But I also think it's okay to give yourself a break and tie it/birth it, if you rather. As others have mentioned, charity is great. I know some chemo patients use quilts to warm up during treatment. And...I Love the table runner. Pick me, pick me! :-) joleehamlin [at] comcast [dot] net

I voted to bind the quilt. I just LOVE the quilt. It looks so snuggley. I think you are being to critical of your self and your work. I think it's great.

It is absolutely worth binding. You may end up loving it when you are finished with it. Sometimes we need to step back and take a break from our work to appreciate it.

Granquilts said...

I'm sure the dog will be very happy take over the quilt.

Jennifer said...

I voted for you to finish it, because even if you don't like it, it could make a good charity quilt! And then you can give it away and it will be out of sight, out of mind!

Judy Beard said...

SOQ-save the quilt!

MoeWest said...

I voted to finish it since it is almost done. If you don't love it, you can find someone who will.

Ruby said...

Thanks for a chance at the giveaway. The workmanship is certainly worth a binding. I know there is someone who will love the color scheme.

Gene Black said...

I voted to bind it. It would be great to give to Project Linus or Quilts of Valor or some other worthy charitable organization if you don't like it once it is bound.

I recognize that fabric because I am using it in a quilt that I worked a little bit on tonight. (and I love the brown floral)

Becky said...

I absolutely love your tablerunner!!!! Definitely bind the quilt and use it:)

Unknown said...

Yes, i voted and I think the quilt has gorgeous color! If you don't care for it after it's bound and washed, please consider donating it to a worthy cause. All quilts, no matter how "ugly" in our eyes, are works of "beauty" for others. Sincerely, Dawn

I voted yes but I say do a machine binding. Don't hand stitch!

'
tis often said that "one mans meat is another mans poison" or 'one persons trash is anothers treasure'
and so it is with quilts. Your quilt is lovely and will keep someone, somewhere wrapped in a warm quilty hug even if you don't want to keep it for yourself. I think it is beautiful and it is almost finished, so honour the time and fabric you have put into it by completing it.

Rhonda,
I know you know what Tim Gunn would say...."Make It Work". In all honesty, I LOVE this quilt. But then again, Rhonda, I also loved Mondo's work on Project Runway and he got voted off :( I'm in Project Runway withdrawl!! I think I look forward to it's next season as much as Spring. Hope you are keeping warm (binding this quilt..hint hint)!

Nancy said...

You might think I'm weird, but I LOVE it! I'll adopt it for you! LOL!

Brenda said...

I like your quilt. Just right for cuddling up and watching tv with. You may not like it but I bet you know someone who would. I would adopt it or you could bind it and donate it to a nursing home or woman's shelter. It would get plenty of loving.

Deborah in Atlanta said...

I voted also, and I voted "yes". When you asked what the giveaway was going to be, I thought you were going to say it was this quilt top without the binding. I'm sure any one of us would have been satisfied with this quilt top. I know I certainly would have! dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com

Nicole said...

Looks like you will have to bind it! I think everyone including myself thinks it is great and needs to be finished. It is not my taste but waaaayyyyyyyy to good for the dog! I voted to bind and donate.

Joanna said...

You don't mention what it is about the quilt you don't like. I think it's pretty and usable and voted for binding it. I especially love the floral fabric and the on point block placement. You did a nice job.

kc said...

OK, since you asked, I voted YES, but only because I think it's a shame to waste the effort not to finish it off. I know you don't like it, but you know what - there are LOTS of folks that would LOVE to have a warm snuggly quilt, no matter what the fabric...so, yes, it's worth finishing, even if you just give it away please. Now the tablerunner on the other hand, that's adorable, so thanks for being so messy you won't use it!

~Dawn~ said...

I voted yes!! Love the quilt and the tablerunner!

Ruthie said...

I voted yes also. Once it's bound, washed and a bit crinkly, you will love it also.

Nancy said...

I just voted and think you should definitely bind this quilt. I think the time and effort will be worth it!

Barbara said...

Of course you should bind it. What would you do with it if you didn't? That would be a waste. If you don't like it enough to keep it, donate it. Someone else will love it.

I voted and would love that table runner, having been born in July! The quilt can always be given away at holiday time to a charity and someone who is cold will love it, even if you don't. Bind it with love for the less fortunate.

What are you talking about? This quilt looks wonderful. It is a keeper and therefore, you are going to put the binding. I voted for it.

Although binding is my least favorite thing to do, I voted to bind the quilt (uh, and I can do that because I won't have to DO it!). I'm not a yellow/gold person, but it's still a very nice quilt.
